Every time I travel somewhere, I set out a goal to see the wildlife in that particular area because it makes me so so happy. It could be Florida and I’m seeking out the iguanas and the manatees, or it could be San Diego and I’m driving to La Jolla to see the sea lions. In this case, I was begging the universe for some wildlife during my 2 engagement sessions in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Dave and Lindsey drove from Denver to meet me in Estes Park on a gorgeous sunny and windy Saturday evening. We started at Mary’s Lake, where they had camped before and thus felt a bit of nostalgia. Then we hiked up a little trail to a spot that overlooked Mary’s Lake Lodge and Lily Mountain. Finally, I had them follow me to this spot in an open field overlooking the mountains where we were lucky enough to get a pretty up close and personal encounter with wild elk, which were ALL OVER the city the entire time I was there.
One of my favorite things about Estes Park has to be the intertwining of humans and wildlife, where respect is shown and people slow down for elk crossing the streets and grazing in the downtown shopping areas. I quite literally could have touched one multiple times. I was in HEAVEN.
I loved this session so much for many reasons: the weather was gorgeous, Mother Nature was present all around us, and most importantly, Dave and Lindsey’s love feels like it’s worn on the outside of their bodies. They are just the CUTEST! It’s the kind of love most people seek out; they’ve been together for about a decade now and he still makes her laugh; it’s apparent that she’s still totally smitten with him, and he respects the hell out of her and makes a point to show his love publicly.
I cannot wait to be back in January 2022 for their winter wedding at Mile High Station in Denver!
