Seth + Amanda | A Fairytale Forest Engagement Session In Black River Falls | Marshfield WI Wedding Photographer

It was a summer evening in Steven’s Point, WI when Amanda walked into Partner’s Pub for a drink. Seth, the bouncer, took an extra long look at her when she handed him her bent I.D. “Why is he staring at me…I’m of age!” she thought. A few weeks later, back in the same bar with her friend dancing the night away, Seth told a bystander that he’d “had his eyes on the short one” which prompted the bystander to play matchmaker on the spot. He bought Amanda a drink, setting the stage for Seth’s pick-up line: “That guy bought you a drink, so that means you owe me your number.”

Shortly after, Amanda and Seth had several dates, including a memorable one at the Rotary Winter Wonderland light show in Marshfield WI over the holidays. And about one year later, Seth took Amanda back to that same light show, back to the bridge where they took photos the winter before, and this time Seth dropped to one knee. Amanda thought Seth had fallen down and asked if he was okay, but after realizing what was happening she said “Is this real life?” and just like most men, Seth had a whole speech planned but couldn’t get the words out. He simply said “I love you. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?”

I’ve known Amanda for maybe two decades because we attended the same dance studio in Marshfield WI and I’ve always known she has a fiery passion for dance, as evidenced by the fact that she went to UWSP for Dance and is now a dance teacher herself. I’m so honored that I get to capture their beautiful wedding this summer. Their engagement session took place in October, when you don’t expect it to snow, but my gosh we got hit with some magical huge flakes. We started our session at Revolution Coffee Shop, before heading to Burlap and Bells, an amazing family-run wedding venue that features cliff tops, a vine-covered church, soaring pine tree groves, a wood pavilion and more. Heck, I want to get re-married there!!
